David and Carla Ramey founded Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996 creating a new style of California Chardonnay winemaking that combined Burgundian techniques. vineyards in Sonoma and Napa: Hyde Vineyard, Rochioli Vineyard, Martinelli Charles Ranch and others. In this way, they made classic wines, which are among the best in the world.
David Ramey’s contribution was more philosophical than technical. At a time when the technological approach was the norm in California, David Ramey showed the way of strict cultivation, selection of paddocks, and gentle interventions, creating a new approach and inspiring wines with sensuous, balanced, great ability. Each Chardonnay vineyard is vinified in the same way so that the unique story of each terroir can be heard more clearly. Along with unique Chardonnays that come primarily from cool Sonoma, Ramey Wine Cellars vinifies unique Cabernet Sauvignon from classic Napa Valley regions, as well as sensual Syrah and Pinot Noir from Sonoma.
